Walk This Way (For What It’s Worth x Mommie Dearest) ASB Gelding
To rescue and repurpose is to know the true nature and goodness of horses. We took a leap of faith and rescued Tyler in the summer of 2018 from a kill pen facebook page. He is phenomenally bred and is a stunning example of why the ASB are such a wonderful breed to have in a lesson program. Tyler has found his way into our hearts and shares his good nature with students of all ages and abilities.
Baske A Million BF
This beautiful purebred gelding is loving life as a JTR horse here at our farm! Look for him in the ring this year!
Zips Best Chance
Chance came to our program from Julie Head. 10+ years ago - a client had sent Chance to me to be sold - he was not the western pleasure horse she was looking for. Julie and her daughter gave him a wonderful home, lots of show mileage and love!
Julie chose to send Chance back to be loved by our students and we are so grateful! Chance is a wonderful addition to our lesson/show string!
Magic's Stonewall Admiral
Magic’s Stonewall Admiral (Mountain Magic Man x My Cherokee Rose) ASB Gelding
Magic was adopted by Lisa in June of 2017. A Facebook post from the American Saddlebred Legacy Foundation caught her eye and she fell in love!
The night Magic and Arrow came home, my husband said... " you got two?" Then he walked over and looked and said "of course you got two."
The little black saddlebred that got off the trailer so skinny and so dehydrated has never put a foot out of place.
His transformation began with lots of water, hay, a slow build up of grain, hand grazing and many medicated baths to get rid of his sores.
He is well started, well trained and has come along nicely. The first day we backed him we were prepared! Helmets and all!. He walks... trots... isn't quite sound but is polite and moves nicely off the leg. 3 months later, lots of simple feed, 1 successful castration surgery by the amazing Mark Reilly of South Shore Equine Clinic, long lining and confidence building - he went to TriState at Oneco CT and went around in the Green Horse WT in his double bridle like a perfect gentlemen (and a gelding).
Two weeks after that he made his WT 10 and under debut. 3 weeks later.... Octoberfest at the Big E in Springfield. Did they win? Nope. But I'll tell you that the kid that came home from that show has 10 times the self confidence that she did before. Mostly, because of that little black horse.
Magic is perfect. He is sound and loves to work. He loves to roll in the dirt! He loves to be groomed. He is sweet, polite, game and ready for the fight. Thanks to the efforts of the American Saddlebred Legacy Foundation, he is a full fledged member of our EWF family.
We were lucky enough to meet the trainer who started Magic as a youngster. Peter recognized him in the warmup in Springfield and was so happy to see that we had him and he was doing well. We learned so much about him that day.
These horses are royally bred and easily discarded for their lack of height, talent or "national aspiration". They still make amazing lesson, family or junior exhibitor mounts.

the horse that stole our hearts looked like this...
Love, patience and lots of good feed made a bit of a difference!
Motion Maker - AKA "Val" (Promotion x Movie Maker)
Valerie is 21 years young this year and has been owned by EWF since 2008. She was purchased at one of the last live Addis Equine Auctions in Ohio. She has become a staple of the lesson program and her wisdom and kindness have touched many of the students here. Val was shown in english and country pleasure before finding herself in Rochester and since her arrival, has done everything from leadline to junior to ride to now packing Walk Trot riders around the ring in hunter attire. She is an amazing example of good breeding and still loves to show off.
LJR I LYI IT LYK THAT
"Mico" is a special member of our family at EWF and we are lucky to have him in our lives. Trained and shown to great success at a JR horse by our friend David Mikoz, he has been owned by Lisa since 2010. Mico's show career is vast and he has titles in halter, driving, english pleasure, country pleasure, JTR hunter under saddle and JOTR hunder under saddle. He is now a trusted and loved walk trot mount.
Air France - aka "Francis" - is a beautiful purebred Arabian gelding. His career as a national level country pleasure horse has made him an amazing teaching partner for us. We are thankful to Debbie Page and Charlie Ethier for bringing him into our lives.
France brings his A game to every ride - from the first canter on the lunge line to a "big kid" ride outdoors in his double bridle. He is a loving, kind and immensely patient soul and is loved by all who have the luck to meet him.
Sterling Silver - "Charming" has been a wonderful addition to our farm. A half Arabian Welsh Cross - he is tolerant, safe, kind and just feisty enough to keep the kids on their toes.
Orens Van Gogh
"Van" came to the EWF family from the Carpinella family and trainers Christy Stevens & Mert Sartre in late 2015.
Van is sweet, fun and impeccably trained. He has so much to teach our students as they move up to riding more tuned and talented horses and he has settled well into his role here.
Farm Bred Arabians
When we think of those companions who traveled by our side down life's road, let us not say with sadness that they left us behind, but rather say with gentle gratitude that they once were with us.
